Jon Astley’s journey in the music industry began in 1973 when he joined the staff at Olympic Studios, one of the most prestigious recording studios in the world. Under the mentorship of Glyn Johns, Jon quickly established himself as a skilled engineer, contributing to projects with iconic artists like The Eagles, Joan Armatrading, Eric Clapton, and David Bowie.

Freelance Engineer and Producer

In the late ’70s, Jon took a leap into freelance engineering and producing, where he worked on some of the most significant records of the era. Notably, he produced The Who’s seminal album Who Are You and Eric Clapton’s Just One Night, further solidifying his reputation in the industry. His work with first-time artists, such as The Jags and The Distractions, also met with commercial success, earning chart-topping hits.
